Join us at Malibu Lagoon State Beach for California Coastal Cleanup Day (CCD), the largest volunteer day on the planet! The MCERP is partnering with Heal the Bay and the Santa Monica Bay Audubon Society to lead this key wildlife location cleanup—be a part of our team to help pick up harmful trash impacting both public and marine life. There will be contests and prizes too.
At Malibu Lagoon State Park, we’ll be picking up trash that can injure beachgoers and marine life as well as get caught in emergency rescue boat motors. Many marine animals mistake plastic, Styrofoam and other debris for food. Each year over 100,000 marine mammals die from entanglement or ingestion of our trash.
Sign up for the Malibu Lagoon State Beach location to help prevent trash from endangering this significant wildlife area!
This year’s 40th CCD is being held at over 50 beach, creek, park, lake, river, marina, and schoolyard locations throughout L.A. County. Clean rivers, creeks, and coastal waters are key resources for Southern California—they not only provide wonderful fun and recreation but are vital to our local economy.
